Lupine Solutions’ Trollbridge Brigade (or simply The Brigade) is the keystone of our early efforts. Any Arizona resident trying to address mental health concerns almost immediately runs into the Trollbridge–ironically as soon as they try to make things better. The path is rarely clear…1 Whether the insurance company needs special forms for pre-authorization or you (the insured) need to jump through special hoops to get the help you need, it can be exhausting just taking that first step to a better you. The trolls come from everywhere to keep you from getting anywhere good–that’s the trollbridge. These trolls can come in all shapes and sizes; the Brigade aims to take them out or tame them, one by one, armed with a limited power of attorney for mental health care.2 The Brigade aims to give you the support you need to bravely step across the gorge, past the trolls, and on to a better future.
Lupine Solutions endeavors to employ community members who have been through it–in the trenches where you are now. They are not mental health professionals, but can help you find the right one(s), and try to navigate the pitfalls of insurance coverage and other barriers inherent in our modern system of medicine. The Brigade is working on a paid basis only for now, with a sliding scale geared toward subsidizing those who cannot afford our services while nonprofit status is pending. We are also working on strategic partnerships with insurers, including Medicaid carriers. Lupine Solutions Corp seeks volunteer board members and/or consultants with experience in accounting for tax-exempt corporations, health insurance claims or case management, and mental health and trauma treatment, including both physical and mental health professionals.
